Good morning, my dear judges. I'm number 1 candidate. It's my great honor to be here to share my teaching ideas with you. My topic is “Unit 6 In a nature park ”. My presentation will consist of the following aspects:
1.Analysis of teaching materials
The unit is from PEP English book, the first semester of grade 5.The topic of this unit is about the nature park, which students will take great interest in. By learning this lesson, students can learn to identify the different things in the nature park and describe the nature park with the target language .
2.Analysis of students
Our students in Grade 5 are active and curious, interested in new things. After learning English for 2 years, they have accumulated some basic English knowledge, so the teacher should attach more importance to the communication with them, providing them more chances to speak in English.
3. Analysis of teaching aims
According to the English curriculum standard, teaching material and students, I set the following teaching aims:
1)Knowledge aims: Students can read and use the words “forest, lake, river, mountain, hill” and the sentence structure “Is there…?”
2)Ability aims: Students' listening and speaking ability can be improved after class.‚Students can apply these words into the sentence pattern“Is there…?” by repeated practice and learn to talk about different things in the nature park..
3)Emotional aims: Students learn to love the nature and have more confidence in English learning.
4.Analysis of teaching key points and difficult points
The key points are to master the meaning of the words such as "forest","lake","river","hill" and the sentence pattern “Is there…”“Yes, there is”
The difficult points are how to talk about the different things in the nature park correctly and fluently and tell the difference between river and lake, mountain and hill.
5.Analysis of teaching methods and learning methods
I’ll mainly use “Task-based teaching method.”and “Situational teaching approach ” That is to say, I will present some tasks for students and let students to learn the language while doing the tasks. And I will also create a situation for students to learn the new words and sentences.I think in this way, students can get a better understanding of the target language.
I want my students to learn in a cooperative way. I will design some pair work or group work for them to learn the target knowledge in the communication and cooperation.
6.Analysis of teaching aids
In order to catch students attention, making my teaching effective and interesting, I prepare some teaching-aids to assist my teaching. They are.multimedia and pictures
7.Analysis of teaching procedures
Next, I'll describe the most important parts of my teaching design—the teaching procedures.
Step 1 Warm-up and Lead-in
First I will greet students as usual and invite students to sing a song together. After greeting with the students, I will begin the lesson by showing students a riddle and ask students to guess what animal it is,then ask students where the animal live and guide them to have a look at the picture of a nature park.
The purpose is to create a better English learning surrounding for the students and the guessing activity can also arouse students’ interests in the lesson.
Step 2 Presentation and Practice
1.Words learning and practice
With the help of the picture of nature park, I will ask them to describe things they see in picture ,then introduce the new words. While teaching the new words, I will use some actions to show the difference between river and lake, mountain and hill.
After teaching these words, I will ask student to read the words in different ways, like read it twice or read it one by one, then invite students to play a "Bomb game" to practice the words
2.Sentence learning and practice
After learning the new words,I will ask students to describe the nature park with the learned sentence pattern “there is...” and then guide them to identify the things in the picture by using the target language “ Is there” and then tell them how to answer it correctly.
And then I will practice the sentence pattern by asking and answering the questions between boys and girls. I present the picture of different nature parks randomly.Boys ask “Is there a river in the park? and girls answer “Yes,there is.or No, there isn’t.”
In this part, considering the condition of my students, I try to present the new words and sentences in a direct and clear way to help them understand the language more easily and better. I also design some teaching activities to practice new words and sentence pattern. By doing this, I hope my students can learn knowledge while enjoying the process.
Step 3 Consolidation
In this step, I will let students do some practice to consolidate these words and sentences. ,I will ask students to draw a ideal nature park and invite some of them to stand in the platform and some other students guess the things in his or her ideal nature park by using the target language “Is there...”. The ones standing in the platform can only answer the question by “Yes, there is. No, there isn’t ” The one who gets the correct answer can be offered a gift.
By doing this, I want to help my students to apply the target language into the real situation through communication and cooperation.
Step 4 Summary and homework
In this step, I invite one of students to be “a little teacher” to summarize what we have learned today, and tell them that we should love the nature and try to protect everything in the nature..
As we know, students are the center in our lesson. I will try to provide more chances for students to take part in our lesson. Letting students summarize the class is a point in this case. At the end of class, I also make a summary to arouse the resonance of students’ emotion.
Then, I will give my students homework, that is to ask students to introduce their ideal nature park to their parents. This can consolidate what we have learned in the lesson.
8.Analysis of blackboard design
I will design my blackboard as follows:
This could help students to understand the important information of this lesson clearly.
That’s all for my teaching design. Thank you for listening.
